BACKUP, Backup, backup

Have we said that enough times yet? Remember the old adage, "Save early, save often". You need to take that one step further. Backup your current project files every day, all of your recent data every week, and your entire hard drive every month or so. You can use a tape drive, or removable media cartridges (Zip and Jazz drives are nice), or just another hard drive. There are many commerical backup programs available, or you can just copy your files directly. Kim backs up individual project folders to Zip disks. Stu copies his whole hard drive to a Jazz disk.

If backup space is tight, it is not essential to backup your applications (you can always reinstall from your original commercial disks or CDs), but a recent backup of your System Folder will save you a lot of time if you have to recover from a hard drive failure.
